The Malik Report

Goodbye HBO

from Brendan Savage of Mlive,

"Everyone is a little relieved to have the cameras out of their face," said Jimmy Howard, who will start in goal tonight vs. the Dallas Stars. "It was good, it was exciting while it was here but at the same time it's also good to have it behind us, not having to worry about tickets and getting everything together and everything like that.

"It's good to have that behind us. It really is. Enough with the side stuff. Let's just concentrate on hockey now."

Brendan Smith, one of the Red Wings' most outgoing players who was interviewed by HBO along with parents Lester and Dierdre, has as much fun as anyone.

But he's glad it's over.

"For sure," Smith said. "There was a lot of hoopla and rah rah and everything going on around it. But it was an absolute blast. There's nothing I'm going to say was wrong with it. It was amazing. One of the best moments of my life.

"But it's nice to get back to normal, reality, what we're trying to come and do every day."

“us”?

Do you have a mouse in your pocket, Jimmy?

If any Red Wing has looked like their mind is a thousand miles away from the action, it’s been you.

“To be honest with you, I don’t know how much of any of that affects anything,” Babcock said. “I’m a big believer when you come to work, you do your job. When the puck drops, if you’re distracted by tickets or a camera, something is wrong with you. You just play the game.

Two totally different points of view. Blabcock and Jimmah are so far apart on this that I’m flabbergasted.

Still, I find it hard to believe that Blabbles was/is not distracted by this or the impending Olympics.

Wow!

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

The players are almost always more ‘honest’ about this sort of stuff than a coach is going to be.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
