Former Red Wing Darren McCarty promotes Joe Kocur’s charity softball game on Detroit Sports 105.1 FM

Former Red Wings forward Darren McCarty spoke with Detroit Sports 105.1 FM's Drew Lane and Marc Fellhauer this afternoon, discussing his post-hockey life, his teeth, his upcoming book he's working on with USA Today's Kevin Allen (which will be coming out around Thanksgiving), the possibility of Grinder reuniting before McCarty takes part in the Winter Classic Alumni game, and mostly, he promoted the Joe Kocur Foundation's charity softball game, which takes place tomorrow starting at 10 AM at Duck Lake Pines in Highland, MI (tickets are $10 online or $15 "at the door").

The event will include THREE softball games including fifteen alums, autograph sessions, kids' activities, dedicated signing sessions with McCarty, Chris Osgood, Kirk Maltby and other Wings. Dave Coulier, Jeff Daniels, Slipknot's Joey Jordison and some other local celebs are playing, and the three games against local fire and police departments will raise money for a slate of Southeastern Michigan charities, including Team Kendall for Kids, the Huron Valley Special Olympics and other local charitable organizations.

McCarty plain old sounds happy and content in terms of where he is right now, and that's wonderful to hear:

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
