Evening news: On charitable outings, Summer Street Hockey and the U.S. World Junior Evaluation Camp

Of Red Wings-related note this evening:

1. The Grand Rapids Griffins are holding a golf tournament to raise funds for their youth foundation next month...

2. The Joe Kocur Foundation announced that Dylan Larkin will be taking part in its annual charity softball game in late August...

3. The Red Wings' "Street Hockey Summer Tour" made a stop at a Meijer in Grand Rapids, and Fox 17 was there...

As was the Grand Rapids Press's Peter J. Wallner...

Some 120 street hockey-playing kids took to the parking lot at Meijer on Plainfield Ave. on Monday for the inaugural Street Hockey Summer Tour.

The 10-city traveling clinic, put on by the Detroit Red Wings, was sold out for the Grand Rapids stop as kids ages 7 to 12 participated in two sessions. Each featured a one-hour clinic followed by a 30-minute pick-up street hockey game.

There were no players from the Red Wings, but there were team representatives along with local players and coaches offering tips and answer questions.

4. And USA Hockey Arena will host a National Junior Evaluation Camp for 2 teams' worth of World Championship-eligible players starting on Saturday at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth. According to NHL.com's Adam Kimelman, Vili Saarijarvi will represent Finland as the only Wings prospect attending the camp, which goes from July 30-August 6th.*

*Ironically, I'm going on my family's summer vacation from July 30th to August 6th, so I won't be able to see you at the rink frown

5. I might see you at the Joe. The Red Wings are hiring ushers, concierges, concession workers and more:

6. And on Twitter, Tomas Nosek was on the ice with his old team, HC Dynamo Pardubice...

And at least he's smiling again:

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
