Why can’t a young Dman come out of no where and work his way into our top 4. You know like every other nhl team….Carolina with pesce and slavin…..Philly with ghost…Montreal has a kid….we get Jensen and xo

Yes, I am still mad at ericsson and yes, I looked at this and saw it as a “promotion” for him.

I am flawed.

The Wins have Hicketts. They also have Kronwall. And Ericsson. And we all know it’s more important to be a vet than be good if you wear a Wings Jersey.

I guess 12 minutes for E is too little according to Blashill.
E was brutal in the first game, so Blashill gave him 16 minutes in game 2. He almost cost us a point in the last 2 minutes of the game, so let’s promote him to the second pair. It’s really bizarre.

Kronwall tells the media he is dealing with minor stuff, not knee related and hopes to get in by end of week and stay in the lineup.

Two reasons, in my opinion.

#1 - DET doesn’t draft upside, they draft safe when it comes to d-men.  So they get oodles of 3-pairing potential guys, and no upside beyond that.
#2 - DET doesn’t play their kids, so they never get a chance to come out of nowhere anyways.

I don’t think E was “promote” to the second pairing. They just gave him another partner, hoping he will suddenly be better.

We have a good top pair -K-Daley and the other 4 are basicallly the same…so. iF e continue to play like this they will have to do Something…but in the meantime they are going to give him a ton of chance to show Something positive…if ever.

After Kindl & Smith didn’t work out as well as hoped, they just stopped drafting defensemen. [trollface.jpg]

Ghost come out of nowhere? I get your point about the lack of development from the Wings on defense but pretty much everyone knew Ghost was going to be an elite defenseman.
