DeKeyser Continues His Growth With The Red Wings

Ansar Khan of Milve with a feature on Danny DeKeyser,

DeKeyser, 23, is preparing for his first full NHL season, an 82-game grind, plus playoffs, unlike anything he experienced at Western Michigan.

The Red Wings have every reason to believe he'll handle it well. Adding seven pounds to his lanky 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame should help.

“He put on lots of muscle and got stronger and looks real confident and is good with the puck out there,'' coach Mike Babcock said. “He’s just got to keep getting better on the nuances of the game, when to have one hand on the stick, when to have two hands on the stick, where to stand in his own zone, how to be more evasive on the breakout, how to get the puck through from the point, lots of stuff.

“He just skates so good and he’s so smart. One day he might be 210 (pounds), but right now it’s still a great advancement for him.''

I’m just glad Detroit signed him.

Would have sucked to both not get him and then have to find a new GM.

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
