from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,
"Both sides are meeting together and exchanging proposals and getting closer, but in regards to where we are and how close we are and what issues are locked down on, I don't really know," Cleary said. "They're working hard and going back and forth."
Commissioner Gary Bettman has set the Jan. 11 deadline as a way to get back on the ice around Jan. 19 and play a 48-game regular season.
Cleary and several other Wings, along with some other NHL players, are headed to Arizona next week for an intense week of conditioning, similar to what they've done several times during this three-month lockout.
NHL teams would likely start training camps late next week if a new CBA can be reached by the end of this weekend.
more and I have no idea why the Detroit News used the headline they have attached to this article

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
Looks like a headline from Jan 2 2012….
