So Fil, Brunner and Cleary are all leaving…hopefully Holland contingency plan for this scenario isn’t signing ONLY Alfredsson.

Cleary wants 4 years

Negotiations with Valtteri Filppula revealed he believes he’s no. 1 center

Whiskey tango ....

Three years is three years too many.  Four is stupid.

Also stupid? Not re-signing Brunner.

I’d like to see Brunner back as well, but don’t you get the feeling that once we see what he signs for somewhere else there’s no way the Wings would want to match (and reasonably so)?

No Brunner? NOOOOOOO!!!!!  We can’t lose our top 2 playoff scorers and replace them with just Alfredson.

I would like to know what Brunner’s demands are. He was great on that 3rd line, but I wouldn’t break the bank on him.

Never pegged Brunner as a money player, but who knows what his asking price has been.  If its the the 2.5mil that was talked about, it would be a shame to lose him.

Brunner leaving is a dick move on his part. We brought him over here and gave him his shot and now after one partial season he’s going to just bolt on us?

While I think Cleary’s best days are behind him, he will be missed, he’s a heart and soul type guy, and is a physical on the boards type player. He gave Bickel everything he had. I hope the wings are planning on the lumber ship that is Bertuzzi replacing what Cleary provided. Bert is just too slow to make an impact in todays game.

I don’t really trust that report.  It doesn’t sound like he’s basing his claim that Brunner is leaving ONLY on the fact that he didn’t sign with Wings before becoming a UFA.  Obviously that’s a possibility but is there anything else to substantiate that claim?  It’s not uncommon for players to circle back to their previous team.

You assume that Detroit didn’t lowball him?  He was 3rd in goals in the regular season despite his mid-season slump and he was first in goals during the playoffs.

But apparently Detroit is more concerned about keeping the broken shell of Dan Cleary around than Damien Brunner…

Can’t believe the Wings wouldn’t have resigned Brunner for anything reasonable.  Some other team can outbid Detroit but that doesn’t mean Detroit should stay in the hunt.  Good shot, knack for scoring, would like to see him stay.

#RedWings’ negotiations with Valtteri Filppula revealed he believes he’s no. 1 center, should be paid as such.

What a tool. It’ll be fun booing his awesome eyebrows next season.

With Alfie listed, Wings already at 13 forwards on contract including Tatar, still will add Nyquist and Andersson, then must drop someone else.

If Detroit didn’t want to give the term and money to these UFAs I’ll be very curious to find out what they offered Brunner. I assumed something like $3mil for 3-4 years. I still want Clarkson. Fuch it.

Brunner can score goals, but he has a tendency to be on the ice when they are given up too. Not a huge loss if Weiss is signed…

For the last 2-3 years, what were Detroit’s needs?

Someone who can finish, we have a lot of passers and setup guys, we need a guy whose skill is scoring.  So we let Brunner go.

Some grit size and strength in front of the net and along the wall.  So we let cleary go and are looking at Weiss.

Hmmm…  I like the skill we are adding, worry about it producing in playoff hockey.

Ribiero 49 pts in 48 games, 33 years old,  4 years x $5.5M doesn’t seem unreasonable.  Good signing PHX.

When Samuelsson gets “healthy” it’ll be too late use the compliance buy out (I think), but maybe they’ll just send him down to GR. There’s just no room for his number, and the Wings have too many kids pushing from the bottom.

Yes it’s too late to buy out Samuelsson.  Especially if they land Weiss also, there is no room for Sam or Cleary, nor any need.

Weiss is going to be $6 mil a year signing for Wings or Blues.

$6mln!  Not sure the wings should be dropping that much coin on Weiss. Would rather have Brunner back for $2.5mln and another $1-2mln spent on some beef.

Under the new CBA sending Samuelson down won’t do anything, will still count against the cap.

I suddenly find myself rooting for the Blues. It feels creepy, but necessary. There’s no way Weiss is worth only $1.667M per year less than Pavel. Not even close.
