Brodeur beats Datsyuk in EA Sports’ NHL 14 Cover vote? Huh?

According to EA Sports, Martin Brodeur and Sergei Bobrovsky will battle for the honor of gracing EA's NHL 14 video game, with Brodeur having defeated Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk.

Now I'm a paranoid Wings fan who's got no faith in the NHL's inistence that their "captchas" prevent both ballot-stuffing and savvy computer programmer-types from scripting the votes, and I get that Martin Brodeur is one of the best goaltenders in NHL history...

But, seriously? Brodeur over the player who is as close to a real-life video game character as is humanly possible? Especially given that EA's "goalie AI" still has the last stand-up and/or "paddle down" goalie in the league playing as a butterfly netminder?

Fekh. I'm not bitter, no no, never bitter...Maybe pissed off...

Update: Via RedWingsFeed, at least Datsyuk's still up for TSN's Play of the Year...

Brodeur must have had all his kids in all the cities across the continent vote for him.

Very strange. No offense to goalies of course but you would think that the “average” voter would pick players over netminders.

Also, didn’t see it on this site yet but I noticed a pretty funny article about Toews on Yahoo.

Yes, the title and article are sarcastic. Maybe like EA’s cover vote? Bobo vs Brodeur, has to be fixed, right? I assumed Datsyuk would lose to a guy like Hall or Tavares.

I’m pulling for Bobo to win, EA to announce it and then have someone in the KHL drop a massive contract in his lap that he simply can’t refuse.

I think its good karma to stay off the cover of those things anyway.

In Detroit we engrave our players’ names in silver.

Maybe people voted for Marty because he’s gonna be retiring in a year or two, and Datsyuk will still be playing?

My brother works as an IT for the government….he told me it’s VERY FEASIBLE to change the results….

I think conspiracy (or if you prefer..a marketing strategy?)....if it’s a “publicity” stunt….it’s a bad one…..Pavel would sell the game well!
