The Malik Report

Blog frustration on top of Wings frustration

Dear Readers,

George’s ISP has been acting up all night long, and while George is a good worker bee who wants to write the God-damned recap he’s trying to cobble together, he wants to let you know that it’s entirely possible that it might not come until the morning if his internet service provider conks out yet again, he may punt his modem all the way from Southwestern Oakland County to Barry Trotz’s backyard.

George would also like to stop talking about himself in the third person. I just want to do my thing, stay up all night and give you guys something to chew on and/or vent grief by reading and commenting upon. :shakes fist at sky:

Personally (and don’t ask why I’m still awake), I think a catapault would be better than punting. Back to work. Hang in there.

P.S. Discuss, particularly if 1999-2001 with a similar pattern to now applies to the present team’s 2010-2012 2nd/2nd/1st round losses in a salary cup era with this team’s present makeup:

2009—lost to Pittsburgh, 4-3, Stanley Cup Finals

2008—defeated Pittsburgh, 4-2, Stanley Cup Finals

2007—lost to Anaheim, 4-2, Western Conf. finals

2006—lost to Edmonton, 4-2, Western Conf. quarterfinals

2004—lost to Calgary, 4-2, Western Conf. semifinals

2002—defeated Carolina, 4-1, Stanley Cup Finals

2001—lost to Los Angeles, 4-2, Western Conf. quarterfinals

2000—lost to Colorado, 4-1, Western Conf. semifinals

1999—lost to Colorado, 4-2, Western Conf. semifinals

1998—defeated Washington, 4-0, Stanley Cup Finals

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
