The Malik Report

Chris Conner didn’t play a part in the Grand Rapids Griffins’ 4-3 shootout win over the the Okalahoma City Barons on Saturday night, but with Ken Holland in attendance, Conner did enough to receive quite the reward—Conner will head to Detroit to serve as an insurance policy should Todd Bertuzzi (groin) be unable to play on Sunday afternoon versus Chicago. This is no small feat given that the Wings want to see what Conner can do before the playoffs start…Or that Conner avoided a 5-hour, middle-of-the-night bus ride to Hamilton, Ontario to play the Bulldogs on Sunday. Here’s the Griffins’ release:
The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday recalled right wing Chris Conner from the Grand Rapids Griffins. Conner saw a five-game point streak end on Saturday night as the Griffins extended their winning streak to five games with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Oklahoma City Barons. The 28-year-old forward ranks fourth on the Griffins with 36 points (11-25—36) in 41 games.
A native of Livonia, Mich., Conner has also skated in seven games with the Red Wings, recording one goal, two assists and a plus-two rating. In 146 career NHL games with Dallas, Pittsburgh and Detroit, he has tallied 43 points (17-26—43).

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
