“I thought our guys played hard and really competed,'' Babcock said. “I’ve said life is about maximizing what you got and I thought our group did that.''
Young players like Gustav Nyquist, Damien Brunner, Joakim Andersson and Jakub Kindl experienced tremendous growth during the season and in the playoffs. Babcock believes the future is bright.
The Red Wings are moving to the Eastern Conference next season, as the NHL realigns. They will join a division with Boston, Buffalo, Florida, Montreal, Ottawa, Tampa Bay and Toronto.
“I’d like to see a healthy (Danny) DeKeyser, a healthy (Darren) Helm if he’s playing again, and we could be a way better team,'' Babcock said. “We need to be better if we want to be in this position consistently and not just by working, but by being good enough to be in this position. We have some work to do to as a group this summer.''

About The Malik Report
The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
