Until next year, when that formula will be capriciously changed at the whim of the league and we’ll start this idiocy all over again from scratch.

In the regular season, I tend to agree with you.  Discipline is highly inconsistent (just witness Smith’s 5 games as a rookie (and therefore a first-time offender) vs repeat offenders who get less.

In the playoffs?  No, it really is pretty consistent and predictable.  1 game used to be standard for these things, and it’s now become 2 games instead.

Shea Webber on Zetterberg = 0 games

Pronger on Holmstrom = 1 game

Nick skipping All Star game = 1 game

Abby on Lydman = 2 games

All seems completely consistent to me ?  downer

I feel like every shanny video seems to at least explain the *lack of a* thought process

I fixt

after watching the Gryba and Abdelkader video “explanations” it has become clear that they don’t care one bit if it was a legal or illegal check.  they don’t care one bit if the head was targeted or even hit first.  they only care how the hit APPEARS.  pathetic.

is that a joke, The Hurricane?  the NHL announcers kept calling him “ludeman” by his name is spelled “liedman” - is this a language issue?

The good news is Abby can be replaced by virtually any professional hockey player and they will be just as effective.

Who’s going to crash the net for the Wings first line? Cleary is too small against the Ducks defense, so maybe Andersson or, what the hey, put Ericsson in as a forward again?

The real question is who is going to miss the countless gimmes that Datsyuk sets up for him?

Put Tootoo up there. He would do a much better job than Cleary did all season.

Garth, did you fall asleep two months ago and not actually SEE Abdelkader playing with Pavel and Hank lately?

I would really like to see a line of Bertuzzi, Tootoo, and Samuelsson.  but that would mean someone has to sit, so we’ll probably see Bertuzzi with Cleary and either Toots or Sammy.  ugh.

Babcock probably leans toward Sammy because he can play the point on the PP.

If only we had a right-handed shooting D-man to play the point instead.  Oh, wait…

I missed the part in Rule 42 that afforded supplemental discipline for an injury.
