A presser regarding the Red Wings’ annual Children’s Hospital visit & a Winter Festival ‘live cam’

As an FYI, from the Wings' PR department:

RED WINGS START HOLIDAYS OFF WITH VISIT TO DMC CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF MICHIGAN ON NOV. 26

… Coach Babcock and Entire Red Wings Team to be in Attendance Tuesday …

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings will start off the 2013 holiday season by visiting the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. The entire Red Wings team, along with head Coach Mike Babcock, is expected to be in attendance.

The visit will begin with a 15-minute meet and greet in the Red Wings Play Zone, a special area in the Children’s Hospital of Michigan lobby for patients and families featuring a home-ice replica seating area and interactive educational games on the wall resembling a Zamboni. Media will have the opportunity to speak with players and Coach Babcock while they interact with patients, signing autographs and taking photos. The entire team will then divide into small groups to make room-to-room visits throughout the hospital[.]

The Red Wings also support the Children’s Hospital of Michigan through various programs throughout the year. Aside from the annual holiday visit, the Red Wings Wish Club has raised over $311,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation (CHM Foundation). The Wish Club allows fans to submit a special message to be displayed on the jumbotron during any home game by making a donation to the CHM Foundation. Since 1995, the program has covered the costs of the Family Center adjacent to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the Red Wings Play Zone and various rehabilitation equipment.

“The Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation is proud to partner with Detroit Red Wings and Children’s Hospital of Michigan in kicking off the Holiday Season,” said Tony Werner, President and CEO of CHM Foundation. “Partnerships like this are what make the difference in the lives children and families we help.”

And this is pretty cool:

About The Malik Report

The Malik Report is a destination for all things Red Wings-related. I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates. I've joined the Kukla's Korner family with five years of blogging under my belt, and I hope you'll find almost everything you need to follow your Red Wings at a place where all opinions are created equal and we're all friends, talking about hockey and the team we love to follow.
