- Janne Pesonen and Chris Minard have been recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton due to the injuries to Mike Zigomanis and Tyler Kennedy, although Zigomanis said last night he believes he can play in tonight’s game.
- Extra incentive tonight for the Canes, as it will be the first game under former/new head coach Paul Maurice, rehired after Peter Laviolette was fired yesterday.  Former Pen Ron Francis will be an assistant coach for the Canes.
- The Canes’ Cam Ward hurt his groin in Sunday’s game vs. Anaheim.
- The Penguins all-time series record against Carolina is 48-47-2.
