Notes:
- The Penguins are 6-8-1 in their last 15 games.
- Remains to be seen if tonight will signal the return of faceoff specialist Mike Zigomanis, considering Jeff Taffe and Ryan Stone were both reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday.
- Evgeni Malkin continues to have an 11 point lead over teammate Sidney Crosby, and a 12 point lead over the Caps’ Alexander Ovechkin.
- Max Talbot is a team-worst -13, and 11th from the bottom of the entire NHL.
- Brooks Orpik is 2nd in the NHL with 124 hits, and Matt Cooke is 7th with 110.
- Malkin is tied for 5th in the NHL with 34 takeaways, while tied for 26th with 31 giveaways.
- Rob Scuderi is tied for 5th in the NHL with 85 blocked shots.
