Kaner Back to Wing / Forbes Top NHL Franchises

Patrick Kane will return back to wing in tonight’s game against the New York Islanders. United Center, puck hits the ice at 7:30 pm, local time. Kane will join the first line, centered by Toews. Viktor Stalberg will be on the other side. I don’t get it with Stalberg. Sure he has speed, but in my book he’s a 3rd line winger at best. I don’t know what they see in him. It’s certainly not point production. Marcus Kruger, speaking of lack of points, will center the 2nd line.

In response to the changes, Coach Q said,“Kane at center has been a good option for us. Kruger is playing well. It gives us a different look. We just wanted to try something else.”

On the switch, Toews commented, “I think we’ll just go back to our old ways and just go out there and make plays. Both guys want the puck more than the other. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. The good thing about playing with Kane is sometimes you can just kind of shy away from the puck and get away from all the attention and kind of sneak back door and hide sometimes.”

It will be nice to see the two reunited on the same line.

Kane added, “I think center worked for a little bit. It’s one of those things that is still an option. Sometimes you have to keep things exciting and switch it up.”

Kruger will center between Sharp and Hossa. You better get some points with those wingers!

Kruger’s thoughts were, “By playing better you get more and more confidence. I try to keep that up and just play good ... You want to get as much responsibility as you can out there. Just trying to get more and more ice time. Just have fun.”

In other news, Forbes ranked the NHL franchises by dollar amounts. With no surprise (to me anyway) it was the Toronto Maple Leafs at number one, valued at $521 million. The Rangers are second at $507 million and the Montreal Canadiens third at $445 million. Detroit is fourth at $336 million and Stanley Cup-champion Boston is fifth at $325 million. The Hawks come in at number 6, $316 million.

Let’s see, the top 6 teams are…. what do you know, the ORIGINAL 6. The thing that every one under 35 keeps telling me doesn’t mean anything.

Well said. I guess there is at least one thing Wing and Hawk fans can agree on.
