SENShobo

A New Journey Begins

I once started a humble little ‘senshobo’ blog on the web, thinking hobo was a fitting title for myself and my position in the hockey universe (or lack thereof).

I remember being astonished the first time my blog was viewed more than ten times in a single day, and flabbergasted when a fellow blogger would link to my humble little piece of the web.

Now, I find myself wondering just what I’ve gotten myself into.

The lights here seem so bright, the traffic so busy. I figured the least I could do was to capitalize to ‘SENShobo’, to pay my respects to the team that brought out my passion for the game. I’ve been rolling this over in my thoughts for weeks, trying to let reality sink it, but it’s exciting and fresh to this day, as I work my hardest to keep from letting it go to my head, give me an ego, and ruin the writing I’ve enjoyed from the beginning.

As a blogger, I do see myself as a part of an alternate media. I don’t have the credentials or concrete status of beat writers and hockey heavyweights, but I try to hold myself to some standards still. I don’t like to push rumours I can’t trust, and I can’t help my desire to be positive, realistic, and honest in my writing. I blog to cover the Sens, because I know I’m not the only fan out there who wants to know every little detail one can glean from the team, from the biggest trades to the smallest musings. I write to reflect on what I see in the team in the short term and the long term, admiring the successful decade they have put together, undoubtedly looked on fondly by the fans and by the other teams in the League. It’s also good to take a long hard look at the League too, and to watch both its long proud strides, as well as when it stumbles.

What more can I say? I love the game, I cheer my heart out for the Sens, and if even one person reads a few words of mine and finds a little more appreciation for or enjoyment of the great sport we call hockey, this will all be worth it.

Since it will take a while to fill my archives here, you can always have a look at my older work at my blog’s old home. You should also feel free to drop me a line, and let me know if you think I’ve done something well, or if I’ve gone horribly off course, minus any henious lambasting.

All that being said, welcome, and let the blogging, and the season, begin!

About SENShobo

Native of Northern California.  Hockey fan since 1998... sort of... there's a hiatus in there that I still can't explain.

I want to know about anything and everything related to the sport and the spectacle.  I watch, I react, I write it down.

My interest in the Sharks was initially a matter of geographic convenience and regional loyalty because that seemed to be how it worked.  I had no prior interest (at all-- AT ALL) in professional sports of any kind.  When I met hockey, it might have set off a chain reaction of general sports fandom.  It hasn't, I don't think it will.  At all.

Since then, that interest developed into full blown (mostly sort of usually almost completely) exclusive loyalty to the Sharks.

I started blogging a couple years ago on wordpress. I still occasionally put things there that I don't think fit here because they are not about the Sharks. Wherever my words wander, here on Kuklas Korner, they will (usually) hang on to a teal thread.
