Jeff Skinner drawing Crosby comparisons

Jeff Skinner, who was drafted by the Hurricanes in the first round of this summer’s Entry Draft, has been turning heads all summer long.  He had a good showing at the prospect camp in July, he had a good camp at Team Canada’s evaluation camp in preparation for the World Junior tournament.  His remarkable shootout goal in practice there will be on highlight reels, as will his dazzling 50th goal for Kitchener in the OHL last season.

The talk around Raleigh has been that both Nash and the 2010 first round pick Jeff Skinner could make the big team’s roster.  Since Matt Cullen was traded away at the trading deadline and Rod Brind’Amour retired, the Canes have a sudden lack of depth down the middle.  This will give Nash, Skinner and a bunch of the Checkers an opportunity right away.

I’d say that most Canes fans are happy about this development, this will probably upset some people in Ithaca.  And Edmonton.
