Carolina had a 5-1 lead in the third period of action on Thursday.
They blew the lead, then lost in the shootout.
One point is completely unacceptable at the end of all that.
There’s no column in the standings for “gave the game away”, but with no disrespect to the Flyers, that’s exactly what happened.
Eric Staal (2/1) and Tuomo Ruutu (0/3) each had three points, but it was all for naught as Scott Hartnell notched a hattie to electrify the home crowd.
I’m at a loss for words.
