Lockout The Fans From The Stats?

It appears certain that the NHL will be locking out the players for the third time under Gary Bettman at midnight on Saturday.  This isn't the only thing that appears to be underway to restrict fan access to NHL hockey.  A look at the NHL statistics on NHL.com shows they have reduced the amount of information there significantly.  If we search the statistics on the NHL.com page for individual players we get to this page.  The alarming thing about it is that the menu for report is removed - although the label for it still remains.  This allowed fans to search players for stats such as blocked shots of power play assists which do not appear on the first page of stats shown below

NOTE:  This menu is back up as of midnight ET

As of early afternoon on Saturday the 15th these problems are back

In the past it has been suggested that the NHL no longer wants to give away these statistics.  They want the fan to have to pay to gain access to them.  I hope that is not their plan now.  In the information age these numbers are readily available online on many other websites.  Any number that is not available can usually be culled from the individual game reports if one is capable of writing a short computer program.  Thus the diehards already have these numbers and can easily spread them.  A website could easily be set up - and will be set up by somebody to give any numbers seen as valuable that are no longer available from the NHL.

I sent an email to the NHL using their comments form on their website asking about the loss of this menu.  As of yet I am yet to hear anything in responce.  Even if it turns out that somebody messed up coding the website and my suspicions about charging for statistics are wrong, it shows how poorly the NHL treats fans that it would be my immediate thought that this change is anything other than a future cash grab.

Just click where the menu should be, it comes back.  Simple bug.

That is not working on my computer Chris.  I tried that before during and after writing this post.

I clicked in the empty space, and the Report menu suddenly appeared. Weird. Maybe try a different browser?
