Early Season MVP

Teams have played a few games and I think it is meaningful to pick an early season MVP. I like to track the MVP and other potential award winners throughout the season - and I will do so as the season progresses.
I think the early season MVP is Alexander Semin of the Washington Capitals.
Semin is the other talented left wing on Washington (generally overlooked as he is behind Alexander Ovechkin). So far this season, in five games played Semin has 10 points, including six goals and a +6 +/- rating. This puts him second in the NHL scoring race behind Evgeni Malkin of Pittsburgh (who has two more games played and one more point).
Semin is having a bit of a bounce back season so far. Last year he slumped to 43 points and a -18 +/- rating that was among the worst adjusted ratings in the league.
If Semin can keep up his top level play, he will be a big part of the rise of the Washington Capitals.
