SF Bulls to host Stockton Thunder in San Jose, December 17

The SF Bulls (as the new San Jose Sharks affiliate), will be the home team when they face the Stockton Thunder (last year's Sharks affiliate) at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. The game is scheduled for Monday, December 17 at 7:30 pm. There will be free tickets available, even some for those without season tickets or ticket packages for the Sharks or the Bulls. General public tickets will be available Dec 12. Parking will be free in the HP lot on a first come-first serve basis. Bring a toy for Toys for Tots. They are the beneficiary of this event. Fans hungry for hockey will also get some relief.
Is this the beginning of a make whole arrangement with the fans? You can never make whole again, but you can try to make amends.
Last winter, I tried to fly out of Detroit in perfectly mild weather, but there was some insane fog in San Francisco, so my flight was canceled. It was rescheduled, and then that flight was delayed too. It was a big long foul-up. I found ways to kill about eight hours, but eventually was stuck sitting on the plane for two hours before it actually took off. What kept me calm during that last bit of waiting was this: anticipation that I would get a prize for my patience.

Ducks not dead yet, except the one

Thanks to a special shark fin turnover recipe, the Ducks came back to life and won a road game. It was a Boxing Day miracle, possibly the first on record:
@PollakOnSharks: “Perspective: Ducks have won 10 of 35 games this season, three against #sjsharks. Of only three Anaheim road wins, two are at HP Pavilion.”
Ugh. What more can I say? There was Colin White’s disappearance. He played a little over 8 minutes, and not at all in the third. That bodes ill. Who would have guessed the Sharks would need more than eight defensemen? Beyond that, let me refer you to Fear the Fin, Working the Corners, and Sharks Talk for all the gory details of how the Sharks lost yet again to the Ducks.
The sidebar story to the Sharks losing is that someone brought a dead duck into the Tank, held onto it through two periods and two intermissions, and threw it on the ice during the third. Eeeee-yuck.

Tomorrow: it’s only a day away

After spending yesterday paying attention to another team, I feel especially cranky that we have to wait until tomorrow, yes it is finally just tomorrow but it is still not today, to see the Sharks play. If you’re paranoid, that smacks of NHL conspiracy and disregard for our needs as fans. Whatever, you can’t always get what you want.
Marleau did skate today, but said he was not 100%:“Hopefully the muscle ache goes away,” Marleau said, “and we’ll be ready to go.” (-Working the Corners). I’m not sure it’s worth it for him to play. Is it safe? What if he pulls something? I mean, it seems like everyone else has scheduled injuries and illnesses for now, why not him too? No need to rush back.

The glass and other things we’ll probably see more and less of

Thanks, Brodie, it was nice to get some attention for the new glass and boards system at HP. I agree that we will see a lot more game and a lot less stanchion. I’m not sure it will provide as much of a home ice advantage as suggested in Brodie’s article.
“They are more lively,” Sharks captain Joe Thornton told me. “It will be a nice home ice advantage, you know we’ll get used to those boards. It’s going to be good for us.” -Sharks Talk
