Teddy Bear Toss at tonight’s SF Bulls game

The Bulls play the Colorado Eagles at the Cow Palace tonight.  Bring a teddy bear to toss, enjoy the game, forget your worries.  The game will be broadcast on Comcast Hometown Network, for those with access to that.  Otherwise, listen for free on KNBR.com or the Colorado feed on iHeart, or pay to watch on America One Sports.

Neither the SF Bulls nor the Worcester Sharks showed up on the transaction lists today, or since the December 1 recall of Mikael Tam to the AHL.

Daniil Tarasov did end up starting on a line with Justin Bowers and Dean Ouellet for Wednesday's game.  That worked out well and quickly, as he scored the first goal less than five minutes into the game.  Assists went to Bowers and defenseman Scott Langdon.  The Bulls went on to roll over Bakersfield for a final score of 4-1.  Two of the Bulls' goals came from Peter Sivak, the first on a power play in the first, assists to Viedensky and Tarasov.  His second was scored at even strength in the second, assist to Alex Tuckerman.  The fourth Bulls goal was scored by Dean Ouellet in the third, assists to Bowers and Tarasov.

The lone Bakersfield goal came on a power play in the middle of the second period.  It initially appeared to be from Trevor Hendrikx, ex-Bulls defenseman.  The goal was ultimately credited to Zach Cohen, with assists to Hendrikx and Peter Boyd.

Each team gave up one power play goal and killed four penalties, including a double-minor against Bakersfield early in the second period.  As of Wednesday, then, the Bulls' penalty kill was much improved since the road trip.

Here's what the ECHL site says about tonight's game against the Colorado Eagles:

Colorado Eagles (8-10-3) at San Francisco Bulls (9-12-3) 7:15 p.m. PT
· Colorado’s Michael Forney leads the league with 17 goals.
· San Francisco’s Sacha Guimond is tied for second among defensemen with six goals.
· Eagles are fourth on the power play at 24.8 percent (28-for-113).
· Bulls are 5-1-0 when tied after two periods.

What they don't mention there is that the Bulls have not fared well against the Eagles.  Their first two meetings ended 6-1 and 7-2 for the Eagles.  But those were the old Bulls, the early November Bulls, and those games were in Colorado.  We can't assume things will go the same way this time, at the Cow Palace, with the new Bulls.

Scoring will be critical, not only for the outcome but also for the Teddy Bear Toss.  The bears are supposed to hit the ice after the first Bulls goal.  May the bears be many and take flight early.

About Petshark: Talking Stick

Native of Northern California.  Hockey fan since 1998... sort of... there's a hiatus in there that I still can't explain.

I want to know about anything and everything related to the sport and the spectacle.  I watch, I react, I write it down.

My interest in the Sharks was initially a matter of geographic convenience and regional loyalty because that seemed to be how it worked.  I had no prior interest (at all-- AT ALL) in professional sports of any kind.  When I met hockey, it might have set off a chain reaction of general sports fandom.  It hasn't, I don't think it will.  At all.

Since then, that interest developed into full blown (mostly sort of usually almost completely) exclusive loyalty to the Sharks.

I started blogging a couple years ago on wordpress. I still occasionally put things there that I don't think fit here because they are not about the Sharks. Wherever my words wander, here on Kuklas Korner, they will (usually) hang on to a teal thread.
