Oilers Prospect Houck Graduates from WHL

The WHL season is over for most players, and this means tremendous opportunity for some including Jackson Houck. His Vancouver Giants team came in dead last in the WHL but now Houck’s season is not over. Instead of getting an early summer, Houck is being given the opportunity to play with a playoff team in the Oklahoma City Barons. Even if Houck doesn’t see ice team, the opportunity of practising with the Edmonton Oilers’ AHL affiliate and getting more attention, and working closer to the NHL team that drafted him will be a tremendous boost to his development.

Draft Watch 2013: Jackson Houck

While the NHL season is just starting up, the WHL is quickly winding down. And with that, the pressure on young draft eligible players increases. For Vancouver Giant Jackson Houck, this season had its own challenges playing for a team that has struggled more than usual, but to add to that graduating high school and trying to wow the scouts seems a little much.

Somehow, Houck like all other players in his same position are using the challenge to push them further. Will it be enough is yet to be seen.
