Lenny and the Jets

Oilers beat Jets 5-3
This was the Edmonton Oilers’ first trip to Winnipeg in 16 years, but it’s funny how some things remain the same. While the Jets put up a good fight, the Oilers saw scoring from all positions and made this look like an easy two points.

There was also an unexpected Finn who earned what looked to be an easy two points; Lennart Petrell. Petrell has never had a muti-point game in the NHL but in Winnipeg where they once loved another Finnish player, Lenny would blossom.

No Suspension for Lennart Petrell

The announcement that Edmonton Oilers’ winger Lennart Petrell would receive no further suspension following his hit Thursday night on Wild defenceman Marek Zidlicki was not made as a breaking news comment on TSN, ESPN or any other sports channel. According to Dan Tencer of 630 Ched, several of the players caught onto the energy of the arena and participated in the fist pump cam.

Barker and Hemsky Return Date Pegged at… Soon

Ales Hemsky, Darcy Hordichuk and Cam Barker all look set to return to the line-up soon and so changes to the Oilers line-up must be made. Cam Barker and Ales Hemsky both took and as far as I can tell, passed Coach Tom Renney’s skate test. This test is something that all players hoping to return to the line-up must do, and the results must make Renney happy. Renney says he can tell if his players are not pushing themselves, or are pushing too hard.

About Oil Patch

Lisa McRitchie is a fairly new writer, online at least, but makes up for inexperience with passion for the game of hockey and memories of Mrs. Leskiw’s English AP class; who knew they would pay off one day.

Oil Patch focuses on the Edmonton Oilers, the Edmonton Oil Kings, The Oklahoma City Barons and Team Canada Hockey with game coverage, news updates, speculation and interviews.

Although the Oilers have had a difficult past decade… or three, here at Oil Patch, the future looks bright.
