Orange & Black Breakdown

‘What Is’ happening NOW

Tag me in Marc. **SLAP**.  Ok, it is time for me to bring the gauntlet. This should be painless, right?.  Problem is…most of the obvious stories have been beaten to a bloody pulp.  So without further ado, I will talk about the some of the Flyers players that have surprised or disappointed us after the jump.

Looking back on ‘What Was’

With that loss to the Rangers this past weekend, the Flyers have had a few days off to recharge before a long grind that will culminate with the Winter Classic on January 2nd. It comes at around the quarter mark of the season, giving us the perfect chance to recap what was, what is, and what could be.

So get your thinking cap on, because it’s time to look back at what was for the Philadelphia Flyers this year.

Game 20: CAR & PHI

It’s been a while since I last posted courtesy of computer problems and health problems.  But all is well in the world again and after the jump, I will get right back into it with a team that Giroux (as well as the rest of the league) has abused in the first quarter of the hockey season.

#FF Flyer Friday – Flyerside Chats (Make-a-Wish Edition)

So I was gonna start writing this post for our Flyerside chats today, but I decided to sit 200 feet away from my computer while still trying to complete my objective. Because of this it took me a lot longer to get started than I had initially anticipated. I could change up my methods, but why should I if someone will eventually bring my computer to me? I’ll still be fine, regardless of how much slower the day goes. Maybe I’ll make a wish on this, the day of 11/11. Yep…

We’re talking the trap, Coburn’s extension, Winter Classic and much more after the jump. Hopefully by the time your page loads after the jump someone will have brought me my computer…

Game 15: PHI @ TB

As the Flyers head into Tampa Bay tonight, all of the focus seems to be squarely on the back end, and for good reason. Not only does it look like Chris Pronger will make his return tonight, but reports out of Philadelphia indicate that Braydon Coburn is now a much richer man.

Let’s talk dollars and sense after the jump.

Welcome Back Prong Daddy?

Fresh off a dominating win over the Columbus Blue Jackets that practically sent their coach packing, the Flyers are seemingly in line to get a huge boost on the blue line.  Eric Wellwood has been sent back to the Phantoms, leaving a roster spot wide open for a certain game changer from the back end.

Game 14: CBJ @ PHI

Energy is the name of the game tonight.  3rd game in 4 nights.  They need to be up on their skates against a woeful Blue Jackets team.  Keys of the game after the jump…

Did someone say goat?

Awful finish for the Flyers.  If you play sound hockey with a lead, then you should walk away with a win.  Allowing the Devils to nearly double you in shots is unacceptable and can be pointed directly at the lack of intensity and intelligence in the defensive zone.  After the jump, you will see how I really feel about tonight’s game.

About Orange & Black Breakdown

The Orange & Black Breakdown looks to be the ultimate, around the clock source for news and information on the Philadelphia Flyers organization and it’s ever-present quest for the Stanley Cup. Focusing on what the team can do to achieve success is the ultimate goal.

The OBB is written and maintained by myself - Marc Siciliano. I’m a college graduate and media production professional in the sports industry with credits on projects like Hard Knocks: Bengals and 24/7 Penguins vs. Capitals: Road to the Winter Classic. A man of many hobbies, I always seem to find a way to spend a disproportionate amount of my daily routine with two things: Flyers hockey and social media (much to the dismay of my hockey impartial friends on twitter).

So what does this mean for you? The plan is to combine these time-wasting habits passions with my love for writing to provide you with complete coverage of the Flyers from both my head and around the web, 24/7.

This is my second writing stint focusing on the Flyers, but for a much larger audience - so do be gentle. Different perspectives and opinions on the organization are welcome and encouraged. Just because I see it one way doesn’t mean I’m beyond seeing it your way as well, so speak up!

I’m always interested in interacting with readers, so find me on twitter (@marcs797) or email me (theobbreakdown@gmail.com) and let’s talk hockey.

Thanks for reading; Lets go Flyers!
