I’m sure most fans outside of Los Angeles will be surprised to hear that the Kings host an annual event for their fans called Hockey Fest. It coincides with the opening of rookie camp and all Kings fans can attend for a small fee. Season ticket holders get a discount.
From Rich Hammond’s LA Kings Insider blog here’s the schedule for this year’s event scheduled for Saturday, September 11th:
For those wondering about what the Kings’ “Hockey Fest” will look like this season, here’s a rundown of exactly how the day is scheduled to go. All events will take place at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. Tickets are available for $20 (or $15 for season-ticket holders).
8 a.m.: Doors open.
9-10:30 a.m.: “State of the Kings” Q&A with Lombardi, Hextall, Solomon and Murray. Hosted by Daryl Evans. (NHL rink)
10 a.m.-noon: Rookie camp practice. (Olympic rink)
11 a.m.-noon: Autograph session with Bernier, Clune, Drewiske, Handzus, Kopitar, Parse and Quick. Line starts forming at 10:30 a.m. (Roller rink)
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Kids press conference with Greene, Johnson, Richardson and Simmonds. Hosted by Heidi Androl. (NHL rink)
1-2 p.m.: Autograph session with Brown, Ersberg, Harrold, Mitchell, Moller and Ponikarovsky. Line starts forming at 12:30 p.m. (Roller rink)
1:30-2:30 p.m.: “The Life of a King” session, with Marty McSorley, Luc Robitaille and Jay Wells. Hosted by Jim Fox. (NHL rink)
2-3 p.m.: “Bailey’s Family Skate.” (Olympic rink)
3-4 p.m.: Autograph session with McSorley, Robitaille and Wells. Line starts forming at 2:30 p.m. (Roller rink)
3-3:30 p.m.: Drew Doughty and Wayne Simmonds play winning fans at EA Sports Gaming Area. (Roller rink)
3:30-4:40 p.m.: “Winning Ways” session, with Rob Scuderi, Ryan Smyth, Jarret Stoll and Justin Williams. Hosted by Nick Nickson (NHL rink)
4-5 p.m.: Rookie camp practice (Olympic rink)
5-6 p.m.: Kings pep rally, with players, rookies, alumni, staff and Ice Crew introduced. (NHL rink)
7 p.m.: Event officially ends.
So if you’re in Los Angeles that weekend and have a need for some hockey, head over to the Kings Hockey Fest. The Toyota Sports Center, where the event is held is at:
