Houston, We Have a Problem

Although not a major league hockey city, Houston has supported a professional team since the 60's.  It appears that this year's Calder Cup Playoff will end that run.

The story further describes the situation, and within that story is a link recounting hockey memories in the  U.S.'s fourth most populated city.

You write good timely things about under-reported (on Kukla’s Korner) issues and I think that if Paul agrees and you are willing, you would make a very strong permanent addition to our family.

KK members have always had the opportunity to write their own blog on any hockey related topic and more should take advantage of it.

It is also a starting point for them to get their own dedicated blog for next season.

In regards to my coverage, at this time of the year, I turn my focus to the playoff teams. and will also post articles of general interest to the NHL fan.

Very sad news for our local hockey…

This is sad.  Texas just isn’t supporting Hockey despite a growing high school program in the Dallas area.  My nearest big city, Lubbock, lost their team five years ago and the university (Texas Tech University) lost a club team at the same time, both if which because the only arena in town capable if hockey decided it was not profitable enough (though there were vender issues that could’ve been addressed and weren’t really).

It’s a shame the Stars haven’t been better over the last few years.  Interest in the game as a whole really did spike in the early 00s following their cup run and its turned south since.  We aren’t a hockey area in any measure of traditional or logical sense but it was definitely taking hold for a while.  It actually was working and now it isn’t.

More details here. But basically, just use the posting page to write anything you like on what's going on in the hockey news or your analysis of the NHL and your favorite team.

We only ask that you avoid profanity, and that you're careful to credit your sources -- news media or other bloggers -- and provide links to those other sites when appropriate.
