Anders Lee continued his hot start to the season and led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a two game sweep this weekend over Alaska. Lee continues to lead the nation in goals with 12 and is tied for 3rd in points with 17. Lee is averaging 1.55 points per game this season and has tallied five power play goals along with one game winner. In only 11 games this season, Lee has recorded 45 shots on goal. After a stellar 2010-2011 season when Lee scored 24 goals and added 20 assists, Lee has begun the 2011-2012 season on quite a roll and should be regarded as the leader in the race for the Hobey Baker.
Anders Lee, a sophomore at Notre Dame and a 6th round draft pick of the Islanders in the 2009 NHL Draft, continued his great play this season over the weekend against Bowling Green. Lee leads the nation in goals with 10 and is fourth in points with 13. Lee has to be regarded as an early leader in the Hobey Baker race and could prove to be a 6th round steal for the Islanders. Lee is physically ready to play in the NHL and, when he does turn pro, I don’t anticipate him being in the minors for long.
Brock Nelson was most certainly the star of the Islanders NCAA prospects this weekend. Nelson was named to the Ice Breaker all-tournament team after registering three points and leading the University of North Dakota to a second place finish.
