Anders Lee continued his hot start to the season and led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a two game sweep this weekend over Alaska. Lee continues to lead the nation in goals with 12 and is tied for 3rd in points with 17. Lee is averaging 1.55 points per game this season and has tallied five power play goals along with one game winner. In only 11 games this season, Lee has recorded 45 shots on goal. After a stellar 2010-2011 season when Lee scored 24 goals and added 20 assists, Lee has begun the 2011-2012 season on quite a roll and should be regarded as the leader in the race for the Hobey Baker.
Anders Lee-Notre Dame-In the 5-4 ND victory on Friday night, Lee scored a power play goal at 12:38 of the 1st period to give the Irish a 3-2 lead. Lee registered six shots on goal in Friday night’s game. In a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday night, Lee led the Irish with one goal and one assist and registered three shots on goal. The 7th ranked Irish host the 5th ranked Western Michigan Broncos on Tuesday night in Compton Family Ice Arena and then host 2nd ranked Boston College on Friday night.
Brock Nelson-University of North Dakota-UND had this past weekend off. The Fighting Sioux travel to Bemidji, Minnesota next weekend for a two game weekend tilt with Bemidji State. UND is currently ranked 20th in the USCHO rankings. Nelson has four goals and four assists in nine games played this season. Nelson has registered 33 shots on goal and is a +2 on the season.
Corey Trivino-Boston University-Heading into the weekend, after seven games, Trivino was tied for 3rd on the team in scoring with five goals and three assists. Trivino didn’t play in Friday night’s 3-2 loss to 6th ranked Merrimack. The Terriers play rival Boston College today at 4 PM. Next weekend, BU hosts Vermont on Friday night and New Hampshire on Saturday night.
Edit: 11/13/11, 6:38 PM-In a huge 5-0 win over rival BC today, Trivino scored one goal, added an assist, and registered four shots on goal for BU against the 2nd ranked BC Eagles.
Jason Clark-University of Wisconsin-The Badgers split two games against top ranked Minnesota this weekend. In Saturday night’s 4-1 loss, Clark recorded one shot on goal. UW travels to Colorado Springs, Colorado next weekend for a two game weekend tilt with 3rd ranked Colorado College.
Scott Mayfield-University of Denver-The 12th ranked Pioneers recorded a huge 5-4 victory on Saturday night against 3rd ranked Colorado College. In Saturday night’s game, Mayfield was a +1 and recorded 17 PIM on three penalties. DU hosts two games next weekend against Nebraska Omaha in Magness Arena.
