The Pittsburgh Penguins are visiting the Ottawa Senators in game 4 of this series. The Penguins lead 2-1 and the Senators need a win in order to avoid an elimination game in Pittsburgh on Friday.
The puck drops around 7:37pm ET and can be watched on NBCSN, CBC and RDS.

The Associated Press's Larry Lage examined the battle between the Chicago Blackhawks' and Detroit Red Wings' coaches, discussing Joel Quenneville's role in his Hawks' successes (despite being 0-and-5 against the Wings in the playoffs) and Mike Babcock's presence behind the Wings' bench, and in doing so, Lage related a story from Wings GM Ken Holland that you may not yet be aware of:
"He makes his team accountable,'' Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said.
With an iron fist?
"Yeah,'' Holland said. "He's the boss.''
Holland is Babcock's boss more than a decade after telling him that he wanted to lead the storied franchise on the ice while he was coaching a minor league team shared by Detroit and Anaheim. During the second intermission of a playoff game in 2002, Holland recalled Babcock telling him he wanted to be the next coach of the Red Wings.
"I don't hire interns,'' Holland said he told Babcock. "The next year, he knocked us out of the playoffs.'

Updated 2x at 5:19 PM: In addition to today's pair of Red Wings-Blackhawks practice posts: I know that the story that got Red Wings fans down involved the Detroit News's Ted Kulfan's report that Darren Helm has suffered yet another setback in his attempt to recover from a partially torn ligament and slightly herniated disc in his back...
"The team is doing so great, it's the playoffs, and I want to be out there," said Helm, who was skating lightly during the Anaheim series before another setback occurred. "It's extremely tough to watch."
The plan now is for Helm to stay off the ice indefinitely.
"Something happened (skating during the Anaheim series) and it hurt a lot and I was limping around for a couple of days," Helm said. "We decided to take a step back and we needed a different approach — staying off the ice a lot longer.

You’ve Probably Never Heard Of Tim Thompson But You Know His Work

During the two months of the NHL playoffs, his days are spent in a windowless studio on the seventh floor of the CBC’s downtown Toronto headquarters. He was wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt during one recent editing session. Pages torn from a steno pad covered the desk, an incomprehensible shorthand scrawled on each scrap — a cue, a note, or an inspiration for a future montage.
“I have this weird kind of head,” Thompson said. “I walk around with cinematic films going on in my mind. I’ll see a bird flying over a streetcar as a kid walks across the street, and it will be like, ‘Oh, that song!’ ”
And the songs for his montages vary. Sometimes, they are not even songs. Thompson has worked with opera and hard rock, folk music and spoken word. Canadian actor and filmmaker Jay Baruchel opened one broadcast earlier this season by reading from Two Solitudes, the 1945 novel by Canadian writer Hugh MacLennan. (Baruchel had two pages to read, and he read them fiercely: “I wish we had actually filmed him doing it,” Thompson said with a smile.)

Canucks Will Be Searching For A New Coach

Numerous media outlets are confirming the report from Louis Jean of Vigneault being fired by the Canucks.

Popes are elected in less time than it took the Canucks to fire Alain Vigneault. But now that the inevitable decision has been made, the longstanding debate over Vigneault’s abilities has finally come to an end.
For this we can only be thankful, because the issue had long since become tiresome. The small but persistently shrill anti-Vigneault faction laid a disproportionate share of blame for the Canucks’ shortcomings at the former coach’s feet. Vigneault supporters were likely blind to a staleness that had set root in the organization. In the end, it was simply time for a new voice, a new face, and unless Francesco Aquilini decided to reset the organization from top to bottom, Vigneault was going and general manager Mike Gillis was staying.

Time To Replace Vigneault

It is time to either put Vigneault (read: us) out of his (our) misery, not to mention a couple of assistant coaches who would be networking for their next job already, if what we suspect to be pending was actually announced as fact.
Penned beat man Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province: “Like a carton of sour milk, the expiration date on Vigneault has passed. Move on.”
We’re not so sure that analogy isn’t a tad harsh, as we’ve always found Vigneault to be anything but sour. Guarded around playoff time, yes. Sour? No, he’s usually good for a laugh or two.
But after seven seasons at the helm in Vancouver there is no doubt: The Big West Coast problem might not be Vigneault’s fault entirely, but it is his problem.

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock spoke to The Fan 590's Hockeycentral at Noon crew prior to speaking to the media after today's Red Wings practice, and while Babcock repeated some of his talking points to the Wings' press corps, he didn't go into as much detail regarding the team's prospects and evolution of the team's rookies at his presser as he did during his 11:40 interview with The Fan (beware: an auto-play clip follows the jump):
