Which Sabres Forwards Are Worth The Money?

Working under a salary cap requires an NHL GM to utilize his value investing skills. On the worst scoring team in the Eastern Conference, which Sabres forwards are delivering the most bang for the buck? Who is the most overpaid?
I noted the 15 Buffalo forwards who have played at least 10 games this season and projected their point totals over 82 games. In other words, I’m not punishing them for being injured or sick (or scratched for that matter).
I then divided their salary cap hits by their projected point totals to try to determine how well these players, when they’re in the lineup, are producing respective to their effect on the cap. Example: Divide Thomas Vanek’s cap hit of $7,142,857 by his projected 82-game point total of 67 to get a “cap cost per point” of $106,229.
I considered excluding entry level contracts, given their restrictions and upper limits per the CBA, but decided to just asterisk them.
Obviously, some ancillary statistics and intangible player traits aren’t factored into this exercise. But when you consider that the Sabres have a scoring problem so dire that they’re challenging the franchise record for fewest goals scored in a season, this kind of analysis should have some relevance.
Player – Cap cost per point
*Adam $26,677
*Kassian 33,598
*Ennis 36,280
Gerbe 41,129
Ellis 44,817

Pominville 70,135
Roy 95,610
Gaustad 97,092
Stafford 103,924
Vanek 106,229
Hecht 118,216
Boyes 154,472
Leino 182,927
