Tom Renney Will Not Return With Oilers

It wasn’t a press release, but rather a simple tweet:

Edmonton Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini announces the club will not renew the contract of Head Coach Tom Renne

And so begins the real speculation as to who will be the Oilers next head coach.

Mercifully at least Renney now knows. I can’t imagine anything worse than not knowing whether or not you have a job and missing out on other employment opportunities because you don’t know what the future with your current employer holds. The Oilers will already have candidates in mind and hopefully Renney has a line on something as well. We wish you luck Tom.

About Oil Patch

Lisa McRitchie is a fairly new writer, online at least, but makes up for inexperience with passion for the game of hockey and memories of Mrs. Leskiw’s English AP class; who knew they would pay off one day.

Oil Patch focuses on the Edmonton Oilers, the Edmonton Oil Kings, The Oklahoma City Barons and Team Canada Hockey with game coverage, news updates, speculation and interviews.

Although the Oilers have had a difficult past decade… or three, here at Oil Patch, the future looks bright.
