Kevin Smith seems to do a little bit of everything in Hollywood; he’s an actor, writer, director, producer and huge hockey fan.
Smith’s favourite teams are the the New Jersey Devils and the Edmonton Oilers. Tonight, the New Jersey Devils are playing in Edmonton and so Kevin Smith teamed up with the Oilers to hold a movie contest to watch the game and spend time with Kevin Smith. Contestants were to come up with a movie concept in a trailer, poster or mini-movie script form.
This entry was one of the winners:
The Rematch at Rexall
The contest gave many creative fans a chance to stop thinking about the mounting injuries and losses because it’s not always easy to think “at least the power play is better than it was last year.” At the same time, that is an awful lot of effort to put into a contest for one hockey game with a celebrity. However, if I had that kind of vision or talent I would have done the same.
Only one movie trailer was dubbed the winner, and I can’t wait to hear what some of the players will think of the winning entry. Perhaps some of the players will feel that the actor playing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins looked a little old.

About Oil Patch
Lisa McRitchie is a fairly new writer, online at least, but makes up for inexperience with passion for the game of hockey and memories of Mrs. Leskiw’s English AP class; who knew they would pay off one day.
Oil Patch focuses on the Edmonton Oilers, the Edmonton Oil Kings, The Oklahoma City Barons and Team Canada Hockey with game coverage, news updates, speculation and interviews.
Although the Oilers have had a difficult past decade… or three, here at Oil Patch, the future looks bright.
