Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez!

Can the Predators keep the good times rolling tonight as the Ottawa Senators come to town?  Since Cory Clouston stepped behind the bench to replace Craig Hartsburg, the Sens have gone 4-1-1, including 3 straight road victories as they pull into Nashville.  According to Bruce Garrioch at Slam! Sports, Alex Auld should get the start in goal for Ottawa.  With back-to-back games coming up for Nashville Wednesday & Thursday, I’m guessing we’ll see Pekka Rinne tonight, and Dan Ellis in one the games later this week.

The Preds’ 7-3 run since the All-Star break, which was extended Saturday in a shootout victory over the Boston Bruins, is beginning to generate some positive press locally.  The Tennessean boasts a profile piece by Jessica Bliss on the dynamic defensive duo of Shea Weber and Ryan Suter this morning, while the Nashville City Paper’s David Boclair takes a look at how Joel Ward’s game has sprung back to life over the last two weeks.

Game time is 7:00 at the Sommet Center, and if you want to get discounted tickets, follow this link and use the special offer code “predators”.  There’s no local TV tonight, if that was your other option…

Perhaps the most significant boost of late has come from David Legwand, who has tallied 14 points in his last 17 games, beginning with the January 8 game against Pittsburgh in which he played on the wing.  When Leggy chips in consistently, it provides just enough offensive depth to keep this team competitive.  This has been a welcome addition considering how some of the other forwards like Martin Erat (scoreless in 5 games) and J.P. Dumont (scoreless in 3) have been sputtering of late.

One small note from the weekend had Patric Hornqvist heading back to Milwaukee as Wade Belak and Jordin Tootoo returned to action.  Both bruisers put some solid hits on the opposition, and Belak scored a convincing win in a fight with Cam Janssen last Thursday against the Blues.  Can these two continue making a positive impact in limited ice time?  The essential point for Tootoo is to keep the tempo up, and fire pucks on net when given the chance.
