What Can Nino Bring?

Nino Niederreiter, the 5th overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, has been listed as day-to-day after suffering a groin injury in the preseason. The Islanders have been patient with Neiderreiter’s groin injury to this point. Nino participated in his first full practice with the team yesterday and has been skating for the past week or so. Nino probably won’t be ready to go when the Isles take on the Winnipeg Jets Thursday on Long Island, but hopefully will be in the lineup on Saturday night against the Washington Capitals or Monday against the Boston Bruins.

Capuano Needs To Shuffle Up The Lines
by William Morrison on 10/26/11 at 03:16 PM ET

With the exception of the Isles first line, there has been very little offensive production during the Isles recent three game losing streak. Matt Moulson, PA Parenteau, and John Tavares have great chemistry, but beyond those three there has been minimal production and few scoring chances.

This early in the season every team has something to work on. The goal for every team is to get better every game. Every team wants to play hard every night and learn from their mistakes. After the first few games this season, the Isles had a lot to work on. Nothing much has changed since then.

In a 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning last night, the Isles managed only 17 shots on goal. Michael Grabner scored the only goal. Through the first five games this season, the Islanders have scored 12 goals. Eight of those goals have been scored by the Islanders top line of John Tavares, Matt Moulson, and PA Parenteau.
