Coach Mike Babcock said they did some good things, such as holding the Flames to 10 shots through two periods. But that was far outweighed by the bad.
“You can let it snowball on you if you’re mentally soft,” Babcock said. “No one else is going to look after you, you got to look after yourself. You got to dig in and put a stop to it. It’s going to take 20 guys doing it right for 60 minutes.
“We’re not scoring easy right now. Six goals in our last six, that’s just not enough, especially for a team that has some of the names we have.”...
Kronwall was particularly outspoken, saying he has never been through something like this.
“I think we all can do a way better job individually. I know I have to be better,” Kronwall said. “There’s a lot of guys in here that can do better. We have to stay together, stay positive, just grind it out.
“It can’t really get much worse than this.”
He added, “We’re not going to skill our way out of this. We have to grind down, bear down, do a way better job staying harder on the puck, all over the ice.”
