What’s Wrong With The Bolts?

from John Romano of the St. Petersburg Times,

Guy Boucher was absolutely right.

And ain’t that a shame.

The Lightning coach suggested a letdown would be a logical development after the success his players enjoyed five months ago in the postseason. They would remember the glory and forget all about the drudgery that precipitated it.

As if on cue, the Lightning has just stumbled into the longest losing streak in the Boucher era at five in a row. Now, granted, there have been a couple of shootout losses mixed in. And four of the losses were on a tough road trip.

Still, it is unsettling to think the franchise has not moved past this kind of prolonged misery, punctuated by a 7-4 loss to Florida in the home opener.

“It’s very embarrassing,” forward Ryan Malone said. “You don’t want to do that to fans who spent their hard-earned dollars to come here.

“For us to come out like that is unacceptable.”
