What About The UFAs On July 1, 2013?

from Luke Fox of Sportsnet,

Spending quality time with our crystal ball, we examine the 30 most interesting pending unrestricted free agents for July 1, 2013.

Corey Perry, Age: 27, Team: Anaheim Ducks, Position: Right wing

2012-13 cap hit: $5.325 million

Bargaining chip: Scored 50 goals en route to winning the Hart Trophy in 2010-11

Career curve: Slight dip after a career campaign

Best guess: Ducks do everything in power to re-sign, but Perry can name his price on open market. Get those Parise pesos

Ryan Getzlaf, Age: 27, Team: Anaheim Ducks, Position: Centre

2012-13 cap hit: $5.325 million

Bargaining chip: Had 91 points, good for sixth in NHL scoring in 2008-09

Career curve: Big dip. Despite playing all 82 games, had a career-low 11 goals and 57 points last season

Best guess: Dangled as trade bait. Regardless, gets a decent raise sometime between July 1 and 4

Perry,Getzlaf,Horton,Edler,Ryder all interest me, depending on who they get or don’t get first.

If Semin signs a 1-year deal, on any team, he better show something or else he’ll be the odd-man out next summer too. Then again, if he fails to impress in the NHL again, he’ll be a lock for the KHL.

Much to the chagrin of some of my imaginary friends(19 of them), I have been high on Corey Perry for some time. I just kept forgetting that he was an RFA until ’13.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!! In ’13

If Ian White has a good year, I don’t see him wanting to leave. Detroit’s the 5th team he’s played for, and probably the team that best fits his style.

And if he doesn’t have a good year, then we’ll be happy to see him go, and Holland would probably trade his rights away so as not to get “suter’d” like Poile did (chump).

That doesn’t really seem to be his style (see; every UFA the wings have had in recent memory, unless you count the 7th rounder he got for Stuart as actually being some sort of return).
