Ridiculously cool.

People can ridicule DET all they want, but they have picked themselves up off the canvass more than once.

It’s worth posting it up on the main board as well as in the A2Y Asylum where I posted it up a little bit ago.

It’d been better without Eminem and the gospel choir, but it’s a poignant ad nonetheless.

Great video.

Although, instead of the prolonged zoom out to the Winged Wheel, I would venture to say that a slow pan out of the banners hanging from the Joe would have been a better ending.

No disrespect to Cleveland, Pittsburgh and the likes, but Detroit (the state of Michigan for that matter) is the blue-est of blue-collar towns.

I’m not a Wings fan (Habs and Canucks), but damn, this gave me chills.

Awesome! Just like Detroit and it’s people. My 78 year old Mother was raving about it too.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

That was pretty cool and I thought the accompanying Super Bowl ad was one of the best. All that’s missing at the end, and I agree a pan of the banners would be more appropriate, is “Imported from Sweden”, wink

I have to disagee – in part. I thought the gospel choir was fantastic, and they represent the heart and the soul of the city. But Enema, well, he represents the self-absorbed punks of the city. Using someone like Marvin Gaye would have been a better choice.

I agree, the banners at the end would have been a more effective ending.

And Marvin Gaye is ancient history. Eminem is recognized as being from Detroit, while a lot of people wouldn’t even know who Marvin Gaye is anymore. Also, his style of music is very old-fashioned and not as current as rap or hip-hop style.

Right. Because hip-hop and rap people are the core group that would support the Wings. Lord knows they’re all hanging out rapping things like “Let’s Go Wings.” While those who do know about Marvin Gaye are all in rest homes sucking laxatives through a straw.

Well thought out there, Baroque.  tongue rolleye

A commercial trying to emphasize that a car company is back and ready to sell vehicles that people actually want to buy now isn’t going to use Marvin Gaye. They are going to use something that is seen as more modern and up to date, not something associated with the 1970’s.

Once the original commercial chose Eminem, the extension of it needed to use the same. #sigh
