Vancouver Struggles Continue

from Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province,

“It feels like, right now, we are hoping to get the first goal,” Daniel said. “This is not a league where you can hope to get goals. You have to work extremely hard to get them.”

Again, and this is a theme, the Canucks managed to miss the net more than they hit it. They had 21 shots blocked and another 19 they took just avoided the net all together. None as badly as a third period Alex Edler shot from the slot which sailed high and wide like it was a corner kick.

Edler seems in need of a refresher course in skills. But he’s not alone. Ryan Kesler and David Booth, a duo which has the potential to be dynamic, continued to take bad-angle, rushed shots off the wing, making it easy on St. Louis Blues goalie Brian Elliott. When Booth did get a good chance in-close, he shot wide by several feet.

It is getting to the players far more than the Luongo debate.

“The way we’re not scoring right now, it wears on you for sure,” Henrik Sedin said. “It’s something we have to focus on.”
