Sense is the NHL believes todays proposal from the NHLPA was better than what was expected. No details on proposal yet.

So the NHL believed that the PA’s response was going to be as much of a f*ck you as the NHL’s proposal was?

Really not trying to get too excited right off the bat because really it’s tidbits and details flying around on Twitter, but it really does seem like the NHLPA proposal is firing for a realistic and beneficial deal from the first salvo.

Of course, it also feels like this is him driving the wedge between the rich owners and struggling owners we’ve been talking about for the last few weeks.

Screw it, I’m going to be hopeful.

what Fehr did today was that he masterfully pinned Rich vs Poor owners and pinned Bettman into a corner on what group of owners he stands behind. If he goes with the small market teams, bye bye Gary.

A very interesting proposal.  If Bettman and the owners outright reject this proposal instead of engaging it, make no bones about it, they’ll have proven their main goal is giving it to the PA again instead of trying to improve the league.
