Kukla's Korner Hockey

from David Pollak of the Mercury News,
Sharks coach Todd McLellan needed only a handful of words to explain the problem Saturday night as his team’s giant headache of a trip turned even more painful with a 6-2 loss to the Nashville Predators.
“Two shots, two goals, two mistakes—game over,” he said. “It’s pretty simple.”
All games are equal in value, of course, but this wasn’t just any loss. Bad habits excised two nights earlier in a victory over Toronto returned. And when the night ended, San Jose was no longer leading the Pacific Division and had fallen to the seventh spot in the Western Conference.
“It’s not acceptable,” captain Joe Thornton said of his team’s place in the standings with 21 games remaining….
“If we’re going to give up four or five a night and think we’re winning, we’re dreaming,” McLellan said. “And we’ve got to keep pounding and pounding and pounding that into their heads until they absolutely believe it.”
