Sharks’ Jamie McGinn to have a little conversation with Colin Campbell today

Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos found out when San Jose Sharks defenseman Jamie McGinn will get a phone call from NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell for his hit on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Aaron Rome:

#Sharks McGinn faces possible suspension for hitting #Canucks Rome from behind. A phone hearing is scheduled with #NHL today @ 2:30 pm.

Not sure how that can be suspendable. He didn’t lunge for the head, he turns to try and make a legitimate hit. I can see charging but otherwise there isn’t much there.

Wrong on-ice call. Shoulder-to-shoulder hit, no boarding, possibly charging, but the 5 minute major was not warranted, and a suspension would be wrong. But then it is Colin Campbell, so who knows?

Yea I agree pac nw, I don’t even think that was a penalty.  Boarding if anything, even that would be borderline.  Shocked when it was called, but then I quickly realized I was watching the Canucks - and it was all clear.  big surprise
