Kukla's Korner Hockey

from David Pollak of the Mercury News,
The Sharks are in unfamiliar territory. Their 75 points are fewer than any Sharks team has accumulated in 67 games since Wilson took over in 2003. A year ago at this point the team had 84 points; two years ago, 96.
The Sharks have had to deal with injuries to top players such as Logan Couture, Ryane Clowe and Douglas Murray during the stretch. Their schedule, including a nine-game trip in February with three sets of back-to-back games, hasn’t helped.
In theory, everything will be fine if the team quickly plays to its potential. But that is a big if as the Sharks have shown the ability to lose to the NHL’s best teams (Detroit and St. Louis) as well as its worst (Columbus and Edmonton) during this skid.
If it takes 95 points to make the playoffs, the Sharks would have to finish the equivalent of 10-5 to get in. If they don’t, the stakes could be high with even Wilson’s job on the line.
