Sharks Coach Unhappy After Loss To Lightning

Todd McLellan was more blunt than usual in describing what went wrong tonight. Let’s just say Antti Niemi was in the coach’s cross-hairs.

He was asked if the two goals in the third period were particularly disheartening.

“No, the six we gave up the whole night is disheartening,” he began. “That’s as poor as we’ve played around our net. Our net play was just atrocious – starting with the goaltender and then the defensemen and the forwards.

“It was very, very poor,” he continued. “I’m really disappointed in our group. We’re much better than that. We’ve got to fix it.”

The topic turned back to Niemi. The hammer fell.
