Rumors Making The Rounds

from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun,

• Former Lightning GM Brian Lawton could resurface once the new ownership takes over in St. Louis. Not only is former Bolts owner Oren Koules part of the group, along with Matthew Hulsizer, that’s ready to buy the Blues, sources say Lawton is acting as Koules’ adviser. You’d have to wonder where Blues president John Davidson and GM Doug Armstrong will fit under the new scenario — if at all.

• Isles GM Garth Snow has been busy working the phones. Sources say he’s trying to move LW Blake Comeau, who was pointless in eight games going into Saturday. He’s making $2.5 million this season and is a looming RFA in July. Not sure if Comeau is in the doghouse of coach Jack Capuano, but nobody should be happy with Comeau’s start coming off 46 points last season. The Isles may also be shopping for a second-line centre. C Frans Nielsen is set to become a UFA in the summer and after making $550,000 this season, the 27-year-old will want to cash in on his success.

I find this quote interesting:

Nash bravely told the Columbus Dispatch: “The players here love what we’ve got, management, coaches ... everyone’s very excited and very happy with what we have and we wouldn’t want to lose it.”

Garrioch makes it sound, as if Nash said that after their 2 embarassing losses against TOR and PHI, but he did say that after their win against ANA.  Gotta love journalism.

On the other hand, if he firmly believes in what he’s saying, he’s got no clue of what’s going on in Columbus…
