Revenge Game For The Sabres

from John Vogl of the Buffalo News,

The Sabres can say it’s just a hockey game all they want. Tonight’s meeting with Boston is more than that, and everyone involved knows it.

“A lot of people are talking about it,” Bruins forward and Buffalo villain Milan Lucic said Tuesday. “There’s a lot at stake with getting that first place in the division. Even the fans here in Buffalo are going to be excited for it. I know we’re excited for it. We’ve been looking forward to this game as much as they have.”...

“It’ll be a different atmosphere. We realize that,” Sabres forward Brad Boyes said. “But we need to win. They’re playing very well. They just jumped ahead of us in the standings, and we need to keep pace with them. It’s a game that’s very valuable to us in the sense that we need to play well at home, we need to keep pace, we need to win.”

For his part, Lucic expects the Sabres to challenge him to a fight. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder is willing to answer. The ability to respond to adversity and anger has come to define the defending Stanley Cup champions. They repeatedly avoided elimination during the playoffs and have entered an even more hostile environment in Montreal, where captain Zdeno Chara is despised for a hit on Max Pacioretty that fractured a neck vertebra of the Canadiens’ forward.
