Pressure Level About To Rise In LA

from Helene Elliott of the LA Times,

With numerous home practices behind them and an easy travel schedule ahead, Lombardi is ready to cast a critical eye on a team that hasn’t scored consistently. He took the Kings’ solid performance Saturday in a 3-2 shootout loss to Pittsburgh as a sign that his players have hit their stride and that he can now regularly demand high-caliber efforts. However, he didn’t get it Monday in a 4-2 loss at San Jose that extended the team’s winless streak to five.

“It’s a matter of getting our competitiveness and our emotion where it needs to be,” he said. “If we come out and play where we did [Saturday] or give that type of effort, a lot of these other things will fall into place.

“That said, obviously we’re not getting some production from some key sources.”

added 10:38am, Scott Burnside and Pierre LeBrun also discuss the problems in LA,

LeBrun: Certainly, Murray is bearing the brunt of Kings fans on Twitter, that’s for sure. My thought, though, is that GM Dean Lombardi would look to make a trade before making that kind of move. Improvement from within would also help. Franchise defenseman Drew Doughty has struggled since signing his eight-year, $56-million deal, although a shoulder injury didn’t help things.

Wow evil i know you hated Richards when he was with the flyers but damn you’re still on him???  WHY??? besides whats your captain doing?.....
Ive watched 9 Kings games and Quick has been really good but doughty is clearly out of shape missing camp killed him and all for what?? an extra 8 or 9 million? So stupid.Put the debate up again, Kopitar or Doughty whos worth more. the answer is clear right now kopitar has become elite top 15 in the league

A poorly researched article, at least from Burnside’s perspective.  Bernier has been scheduled to get the start tonight for several days, so it’d be quite the surprise if he suddenly didn’t get the start, particularly amidst a slump that is threatening Murray’s job.

I do agree with some of their arguments, in the sense that the rhythm and timing of Bernier’s starts over the past two years has been poor at best, and Quick has been overworked by the end of the season (especially two years ago).  Murray has changed criteria for determining the starting goalie many times, and that can hardly make it easy for a backup.

But aside from that, bringing in Moreau and Hunter seems a little questionable to me, as does not at least trying Loktionov on the left side in Manchester to see if he can bring his scoring prowess up the bigs a little sooner…

Listen Evil I get it you dont like him..but who does Pierre blow more than Crosby??? Crosby is a great player, there is no disputing that but you saying that mike richards is overrated and hes never won anything is BS.Dont be blinded by your hate. The guy won a memorial cup was ohl playoff MVP,won a world junior title with a letter on his jersey won a calder cup in the AHL made it to the stanley cup finals won a gold medal while being on Canadas best line ( Toews/Morrow/Richards) im not even a fan of his but you have to respect his record. he was not the cancer in Philly, Pronger was.Wherever Pronger plays it always ends badly and its never his fault hmmm something stinks….

Neither does Pierre Maguire.

And frankly, Mike Richards wasn’t referenced at all in Helene Elliott’s article and was barely mentioned in the ESPN one, only tagentially in a story that is mainly about goaltending and coaching, so maybe someone else is the person who needs to move on…

Also, why did you bring up penises?  That has nothing to do with the conversation either.

Nor do twats, waffles or cancer for that matter.

Whatever they do, they need to do it fast before Quick goes down from a back injury from trying to carry the entire team.
