from Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun,
Tim Jackman can’t say he’s caught himself pulling up on a check because of the rash of suspensions called this season.
However, the Calgary Flames forward has noticed some changes with the level of contact through the first couple of games.
“A couple of times, I’ve had my back turned away from the boards, and I felt guys let up,” Jackman said.
“I’ll be bracing myself, trying to protect the puck and protect myself from the hit, but not been hit from behind.
“I think guys are thinking about it.”...
“When they changed the rules on all the hooking and obstruction, it took a little bit for guys to figure it out. But all of a sudden, you just didn’t hook. You didn’t use your stick to catch up to guys,” Jackman said.
“Guys learn and guys will learn if a guy’s vulnerable or sticking out his head to think twice.”
